Kiteboarding Bar

The kiteboarding bar is the primary means of control for the rider. It essentially acts as the steering wheel, allowing the rider to control his/her direction. It is also used to control the rider’s speed as well.

Most experts recommend that a kiteboarding bar come equipped with a “deadman” system. These are essentially a quick-release mechanism that detaches the bar and kite from the rider’s harness in case of an emergency. These systems can help reduce the event of injury and/or death to the rider.

A kiteboarding bar must be made to withstand the rigors and strain that are inherent in the sport. Therefore, most quality bars are either made from solid metal or some kind of carbon composite material. To keep these bars from sinking in the water, many companies attach floats to the ends.
